The Lambda Phi Chapter, Inc. of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. was chartered on March 16, 1994 at the Ramada Hotel in Oxon Hill, MD. The chartering of Lambda Phi Chapter, Inc. was the culmination of twenty two women including our organizer Mary Holland Calbert. We are proud to be the 82nd chapter chartered in Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.! The chapter has taken in over 100 members with 48 active members to date and spreads across Prince George's County. The Lambda Phi Chapter became incorporated in 2011. One of the chapter's biggest achievements was the chartering of the Lambda Phi Beta Chapter of Bowie State University on May 6, 2006 at the Sheraton Hotel in Columbia, MD.
Lambda Phi Chapter, Inc. is very active in the community providing "Service for Humanity" whenever we are called upon. Aside from our health fairs and community collaborations, our current signature project is the adoption of Seat Pleasant Elementary School, located in Prince George's County. This school is the lowest socioeconomic elementary school in the county and we provide the children with health education, school supplies, coats, uniforms, clothing, and support on career day yearly. The chapter has been working in collaboration with Seat Pleasant Elementary School since 2007. The chapter is also active within the sorority itself, having received the Banner Service Award in 2009, the Star Service Award in 2011 and 2012. The chapter was also recognized for new member intake from 2005-2011, as well as transfer of undergraduate members in 2012.
